WATER, CA

The story of California is shaped by its troubled relationship to water. Over the last century, the definition of conservation and by extension, reclamation, has changed drastically.

We invite critical and/or creative submissions presenting the politics, poetics, history, reclamation strategies, and communities living near to water in California.

These projects will create a new way of navigating California's landscape. Erasing the traditional map, tied together by counties and towns, the state can be drawn by waterways, watersheds, reclamations, deprivations... connecting seemingly disparate bodies. This is an experiment in geography, that encourages the mythological while integrating playful artistry with a clear understanding of sometimes complex histories and technologies.

Please keep project abstracts under 250 words. Submissions will be viewed on a rolling basis.
